JOIN THE PACK
Thank you for your interest in the Wolf Pack and the University of Nevada. The Nevada Spirit Program is looking for athletic men and women who are going to fit in with the style, culture, and energy that Nevada Cheer has built over the years.
The Four Teams
All teams cheer together to represent the Nevada Wolf Pack throughout the year. Each team has a specific style. At tryouts, we look for talented individuals who will fit in and fill the open spots available for each team, with consideration for formations, stunt positions, and partners.
Pom
Emphasis on different styles of dance, dance tricks, cheers, and sideline dance.
Cheer
Emphasis on pod stunting, tumbling, sign work, cheers, and sideline dance.
Stunt
Emphasis on coed stunting, tumbling, sign work, cheers, and sideline dance.
Mascot
Events and school spirit. Represent the University through performances and appearances.
What to Know
Tryout Info
- No video requirement for this tryout season
- April 30th, 2026 – MIDNIGHT – Tryout applications due.
- May 8, 2026 — Tryouts begin & $75 nonrefundable payment due at check-in. Card, Cash or Check made out to University of Nevada Spirit Program.
- May 8–10, 2026 — Tryout weekend
If You Make the Team
- Spirit fee — Team Fundraiser — Each member pays $500. This covers spirit packs, gear, camps, camp travel, and guest instructors.
- We cheer at football, men’s & women’s basketball, volleyball, and select other Wolf Pack sports.
- Practices Tue / Wed / Thu, 4:00-6:30 PM (Cheer & Pom)/4:30-7:30 PM (Stunt). Your fall class schedule must be free for these times.
- Workouts are a mandatory expectation.
- Appearance’s and community service events are a huge part of our program. We have a mix of mandatory and voluntary events throughout the year.
- You must have above a 2.0 to be a part of our program. A 3.0 or above is encouraged.
- Book scholarships available to apply for after first semester with 3.0 GPA or above.
- You must be enrolled as a full time student with 12 credits for the entirety of the year. Only exception is graduating seniors with coaches approval.

Flight note: If selected for the 2026-2027 Spirit Program, meetings will be held until 5pm. All flights must be scheduled after 7:00 PM Sunday evening. No members may leave campus before meetings have concluded.
Required Paperwork
No video submission required — everyone who applies attends in-person tryouts. Your application must include:
Everyone
- Current headshot photo taken in the last year.
- Health insurance card — front & back
High School Students
- UNR admission letter or proof of application
- Unofficial high school transcript
College Students
- Most current copy of unofficial college transcripts; including Fall 2025.
- Progress report from current classes
- Copy of Fall 2026 schedule
Material to Prepare
Girls
- Come knowing the Nevada Fight Song & Tryout timeout.
- Once your tryout packet is received you will receive the link for the fight song and timeout choreography to learn. It will be sent within 48 hours of receiving the packet.
Guys
- Toss hands required

What to Wear
White tops & Navy bottoms — all 3 days. Game ready.
Girls
- White sports bra or tight-fitting tank top
- Navy spandex / briefs
- Bows encouraged
Guys
- White t-shirt
- Navy basketball shorts
- Athletic shoes
If Chosen — Summer Requirements
Signing Day – May 13th (Not Mandatory)
Physicals completed in Reno with University of Nevada doctors and trainers. Dates TBA.
Mandatory team material weekend (Cheer Camp). July 26th-28th.
Spirit Pack fee due August 1st. Report back will be between Aug 7th- 11th. Exact day TBD. All team members must remain in Reno through the start of fall semester. Mandatory for all members. More info given at the new team meeting on May 10.
